ECC Welcome

April 07, 2000

A School of Choice

Eastland CARE Campus provides an optional setting for high school students whose needs are not met in the traditional school setting. ECC offers flexibility and self-paced courses. Students may attend classes in the morning from 7:45-11:45 or in the afternoon from 11:30-3:30. When students successfully complete all requirements for graduation, they  earn a diploma from ECC. ECC will conduct its own formal graduation ceremony.

ACCREDITATION

Students at ECC are required to complete the same graduation requirements as all students in the state of Texas. ECC is accredited by the Texas Education Agency.

STAFF

The staff at ECC are committed to helping students meet their goal of obtaining a high school diploma. The staff serves as a support system to provide each student with every opportunity to be successful.

Course Structure

Each student is enrolled in 3 self-paced courses at a time. Students are enrolled in each subject area with a state-certified teacher responsible for multi-course instruction. Students work at their own pace to complete the courses assigned. As a course is mastered with a score of 75 percent (minimum passing grade), then the student is enrolled in the next course.

Eligibility and Enrollment Procedures

To attend ECC certain eligibility requirements must be met:

• Student must live in Eastland school district.

• Student must be classified as a drop out or at risk of dropping out.

Students choose to apply to ECC by requesting information and an application from the High School Counselor. A student who has been out of school for one semester or longer may apply directly to ECC. All completed applications are reviewed at the end of each month, pending openings. Students are not enrolled on a “first come, first served” basis. Students are accepted based on whether ECC is an appropriate academic environment for them.
