The Maverick Band wins a coveted 1st Division Superior Rating at the Region 7 UIL Marching Band Contest and advances to AREA. On Saturday, October 17th the band competed at the Region 7 UIL Marching Band Contest in Glen Rose Texas. The Band received 1st Division ratings from all judges, earning a 1st Division Superior Performance Award. All judges were very complimentary of the Eastland Band. Earning a regional 1st Division at UIL for a band is equivalent to earning a district championship. By earning the 1st Division at the Region Contest, the band will advance to the UIL AREA round of marching band competition. The band will compete next Saturday at the Georgetown ISD Athletic Complex. The time will not be known until Thursday after all regions have completed their contests. This contest will be a head-to-head competition, judged by 5 judges, and the bands are ranked from top to bottom. At AREA, there are two competitions. There will be a “Prelims” competition, where bands advancing from 7 different regions, will compete for one of 7 finalist spots. Then on Saturday night there will be the Finals competition. From finals, there will be between 2-5 bands advancing to State, depending on the total number of bands in the prelims. The UIL State Marching Band Contest is in San Antonio on November 2nd. Everyone is encouraged to come support our fine band next Saturday in Georgetown.
Congratulations again to these fine young musicians of the Mighty Maverick Marching Band for representing Eastland High School with distinction. As always the Mighty Maverick Band makes Eastland Sound Good!
Go Band! All the way to State!
