Eastland CARE Campus Application Guidelines

1.     ECC is a non-traditional high school. It is a “school of choice” within the Eastland Independent School District. Students are not SENT to ECC. Students who choose to be Positive and Productive will be successful.

2.     Admission is through application and interview process. Students are accepted based on whether ECC is an appropriate academic environment for them.

3.     Two sessions:  Morning     7:45-11:45

Afternoon   11:30-3:30

4.     Community service-daily cleanup duties to the facilities.

5.     Students work independently and are enrolled in 3 courses at a time. The program is designed for acceleration.

6.     Homework/Extended Day—privilege that is earned through perfect attendance.

7.     Attendance-to receive credit in a class, a student must be in attendance at least 90 percent of the days in which the student is enrolled in the class. If a student completes the requirements of the course, but has less than 90 percent attendance in that particular course, the student WILL NOT receive credit until he/she completes the assigned Student Opportunity Session (S.O.S). This is an alternative way for students to make up absences/regain credit due to absences.

ATTENDANCE PERIOD is 11:30-11:45am. Students who are not present during this period will not receive credit in their classes for the day.

EXCUSED Absences do count in determining the “90%” rule.

Partial Day Absences for Medical Appointments—when documentation is provided the student will be excused from that absence.

TARDIES—three tardies equals one unexcused absence.

8.     Dress Code:

Students may wear:

    • Regular/Straight leg fitted pants or jeans—appropriately sized/fitted
    • Collared button down or polo shirts. Shirts tucked in at all times.
    • Sweatshirts or sweaters may be worn over collared shirts (no hoodies)

Student may NOT wear: shorts, dresses, skirts, sunglasses, chains, pullover hoodies, oversized clothing.

Personal Grooming

  • Body piercing in ears only
  • Young men will be clean shaven

Consequences for excessive Dress Code Violations: When a student violates the Dress Code he/she will be assigned Community Service for each violation in excess of the 3rd violation.

9.     No loitering on school property and EHS campus is off limits during school hours.

10.                        May attend Eastland High School Prom only if invited as a guest by an EHS student.

11.                        Graduation ceremony will be held separate from the EHS ceremony and student’s diploma will be awarded from Eastland CARE Campus not Eastland High School.

12.                        Drug dogs can search ECC campus and parking areas. Cars are subject to search. Absolutely no tobacco, drugs, alcohol, or anything else illegal is allowed on campus.

13.                        School supplies: Notebook paper and pen or pencil.

14.                        Bottled Water only allowed in classrooms.

15.                        No phone messages except in emergencies. Please make transportation and personal arrangements before or after school. Pagers and/or cell phones are not to be used in the building. Violations result in a $15.00 fine for each occurrence.

16.                        Computers are for school purposes only. Not for personal use.

17.                        Once a student checks-out of Eastland High School to attend ECC, the student cannot leave ECC and return to Eastland High School.
